Music is an engaging and exciting subject at St Leo’s. Students have the opportunity to perform on a variety of instruments, and experience composition and music analysis.
Students can also be involved in the annual College Musical. This year the College will be performing Disney’s Beauty and Beast Jr, with students in Years 7–12 involved in a range of roles.
The College has an active co-curricular music program, with a number of musical ensembles that cater for students of all abilities. Students are always welcome to join the College’s:
- Concert Band
- Stage Band
- Symphonic Band
- Rock Band
- Max 12 Choir
- Bel Canto Choir
- String and Woodwind Ensemble
The ensembles rehearse in the Music Centre in the morning before school and during lunchtime, with instruments available for hire.
The Music Department offers tuition during school hours for students wishing to learn:
- Guitar (banjo, ukulele, acoustic, electric and bass)
- Trombone and Tuba
- Trumpet and Horn
Students are given numerous opportunities to display their musical talents through our concert and performance program. The College hosts several Twilight Concerts throughout the year, where parents and friends can enjoy the major ensembles on offer at the College.
Ensembles also participate in festivals, camps, tours, eisteddfods and community events.
