Year 11 and 12 (Stage 6)

Year 11 and 12 offers students at the College the opportunity to grow towards maturity in many facets of personal development. All students must study at least 2 Units of English, and at least 1 Unit of Religious Studies. Elective Subjects available for the Higher School Certificate include:

  • Community and Family Studies;
  • Design and Technology;
  • Drama;
  • Earth and Environmental Science;
  • Economics;
  • English (Ext. 1 and 2, Advanced and Standard English, English Studies);
  • Engineering Studies;
  • Food Technology;
  • Industrial Technology – Timber;
  • Information Processes and Technology;
  • Languages – French/Chinese/German/Japanese – Open High School;
  • Legal Studies;
  • Mathematics (Ext. 1 and 2, 2 Unit and General Mathematics 1 & 2);
  • Modern History;
  • Music 1;
  • PDHPE;
  • Physics;
  • Senior Science;
  • Society and Culture
  • Studies of Religion (1 unit or 2 unit);
  • Visual Arts;
  • VET – Construction, Hospitality

Students in Years 9 – 12 may also elect to study a language not offered at the College either through Saturday School or by correspondence through the Open High School. Additional subjects may be available on-line or through distance education.  There is also the option for students to complete TAFE courses as part of their studies in Years 11 and 12.  These courses carry an extra fee paid to an external body.

Regular homework, revision and study is part of College policy.  There is advice for students about effective study habits, including study days, tutorials and parent information sessions. Skills and knowledge relating to the use and understanding of information, communication and learning technologies are incorporated through specified strategies for incorporating appropriate technologies into the content of all courses.
