Debating and Public SpeakingPRINT THIS ARTICLE
Debating and Public Speaking provide opportunities for students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. We encourage all students to participate in the debating and public speaking opportunities available at the College.
Debating and public speaking develops student skills in critical and creative thinking, reasoning and persuasion. The College competes in the Catholic Schools Debating Association (CSDA) competition held in Terms 1 and 2, as well as a number of other public speaking competitions, including several run by UN Youth.
St Leo’s students can showcase their creative talents by taking part in interactive Slam Poetry sessions with Australian Slam Poetry Champion, Luka Lessons.
These competitions and experiences promote teamwork, listening and research skills, and help students build confidence in presenting to others.
